postheadericon Fishprint Mahjong

Click here to enjoy  This is my son Brad’s Christmas present to me. He programed several of my painted flowers to appear as a Mahjong game. Needless to say I was blown away at his clever idea and thoughtfulness. So click on and have some fun too.  This can be played on an Ipad as well as an I phone or Android.. The Android is a little slower but still works.

I realize that this has special meaning to me but several people have already said they are enjoying playing it also. So tell a friend and have some fun. It is free to play.

Thank you my son, I love you.

postheadericon The Gift

It’s hard to believe that April has finally arrived. We had a cold wet winter and springtime is finally here.

So many thoughts are going through my head, some old and need to be kept in the past, just like winter and yet some new, fresh and hopeful, just like spring. But there is one thought that stays with me no matter what the season, the pleasure that I feel as I paint a flower on a greeting card and then give it away. I know that seems so simple, but really, aren’t the simple things we do in life everyday, the things that make us smile?

I find it very difficult to find the words to what I am feeling inside, a fresh explosion of spring perhaps, but far beyond spring. It is a well known saying, “Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than a flower.” My prayer is that people will be touched with the love of God in a most unique way by getting a hand painted flower card.

So, here is my plan, I will hand paint a greeting card  for free to anyone who will send me their address, so I then can mail it to you. It will be blank inside with its own envelope so you may pass it along to someone else if you desire. As I move along in this process, I will also make available  that I could send a hand painted card with a message inside, of your choosing, to send to you or someone else, for you. The card will still remain free. I think though, to be practical on my part, I  have a Donate Button available on this site for those who may want to contribute to postage.

I am also realizing that this could become very big very fast and there will be those who will want to share in this so others can receive their card. I’m not sure where it will go from here, but I won’t know unless I just step out and do it.

I have seen the smiles on people as they receive their card and I have also heard some testimonies of how God intervened for them and showed His love by this simple little gesture of kindness. After painting over 120 cards at the Home Show last fall and giving them away, I know I can do this. I am so excited to see how God is using this.

If you happen to live in Redding, California, just come into our office at 2936 Churn Creek and I’ll make sure you get a card. OR

Email me at fishprintgifts@gmail.com with your address and I’ll send you one.

Blessings and beyond,

Shirley

postheadericon Faith, Hope, Love

When my ears are touched with the sounds of  faith,

my eyes begin to see,

the strength of hope of His perfect plan

and love beyond degree.

Now the challenge is to recognize  the sounds of faith.

In my experience, it may not be the same for all of us. Anything that causes our attention to be on God and not ourselves may be one of those sounds. I challenge you to ask the Lord to help you recognize those sounds of faith when they happen.

Blessings,

Shirley

postheadericon Grace for the New Year

After listening to our pastor this morning I was reminded of how important the act of Grace is in this journey called life. I’m excited to experience this work of Grace in a new and powerful way this year. Not only God’s grace to me but grace extended from me to others because of that grace extended to me. I know that was a run on sentence, but that’s okay, it’s my blog and I just gave myself grace to do it.

I am so reminded of 11 Corinthians 6:1, a verse that the Lord reminded me of a few months ago and that is, not to take His grace in vain. I knew He was speaking to me and now I appreciate it even more. God is getting ready to do something really big. Are we prepared for what God is wanting to do in each of us? It does take a new and fresh appreciation of His grace outpoured individually and to the world.

I know I posted my poem on this way back when I started this website but I think now is the time to repost it.. It never gets old and it is universal.  When I am in the market place and sharing my line of greeting cards..there is two poems that are accepted anywhere, No Fear and Great Grace. So here it is again, just a reminder of His Great Grace.

postheadericon The Gift of Heaven

His  Love

Your love is deeper than the deepest sea,

And reaches far above the sky.

Your outstretched arms,

Your nail scarred hands,

For me You came to die.

The heavens declare Your mighty works,

The earth reveals Your glory,

No greater love has touched my Heart,

The true redemption story.

Just the thought of that one drop of blood being enough to give me life and to be seen by God as righteous .  I am still awed by that fact, just one drop of that pure undefiled blood, shed for me. It cost heaven everything so I could have a relationship with my Heavenly Father. There is no greater cost.

To think that God sent His son to become a child, to be tempted like we are, yet without sin, to become a man, to shed that one drop of blood for me.

I can’t help but think about Him being that baby in a manger, with all the angels proclaiming His birth, knowing the journey He would be taking, Rejoicing not only at His birth, but my redemption also.

There much rejoicing in that Bethleham sky that night, much more than we even realize. We were included in that event. That is why the angels still rejoice over us as we receive that gift of heaven, that free gift to us, that gift that cost heaven everything.

postheadericon My Hand

My Hand

There was a time when you were small,

You could barely reach My hand,

I held you firm,

I held you strong,

And I watched you grow as time went on.

I am the “One” who holds your hand,

And I will never let you go,

I’ve promised never to leave you,

I just wanted you to know.

In this holiday season it is so easy to get lost in the crowd. Many feel the despair of loneliness gripping their hearts even among friends. I would like to say that I have never felt that but I have felt that and I believe that many others have too.  I would like to point out though that the battle is in the mind. That is why it can be such a secret to those around us.

My poetry expresses so many times of the Father’s love and  His heart towards us. I never get tired of writing about His care and concern for me and I love sharing His love, especially in poetry style. Seeing encouraging words in writing  often can short circuit what our mind is thinking and therefore allow His Heart to touch our heart.

The reality of God holding my hand is a picture in my mind that overcomes anything. Sooo the bottom line is this. Take a moment to allow God to renew your mind with His thoughts towards you, then… do it again and again and over and over and soon,  The power of the renewed mind is a lifestyle, not an event.

He promised Never to Leave us, He just wants us to know it, really know it.

Blessings,

Shirley

postheadericon Letter from God

Dear Child:

I know you don’t know me, but I have known you for a very long time now.  I am writing this letter to you today because I want you to know how much I love you.  I have always loved you, you know.  Even before you were born I loved you and I always will love you in spite of what you might think of me.

I have watched you grow and experience new things in your life and meet the challenges that have faced you.  I have seen your tears and heard your cries on many occasions, yet I know that you thought I was never there for you.

I was there when you took your first breath;

I was there when you smiled for the first time;

I was there when you lost your first tooth, and

I was there when you took your first step;

I have always been there, in the sad times and even in the happy times.

My heart has been broken because all I have ever wanted was for you to know who I am.  I am your Father and I love you. I have so desired to hear your voice speak to me and tell me your innermost secrets, ambitions and dreams. I desire to tell you my inner most secrets too.

I want to tell you something more, I can’t hold it in anymore.  I already know your very thoughts and how you feel about things. I just want so very much for you to want me in your life as much as I want to be in your life.

I want you to know one more thing, I have already sacrificed the one thing that would make it possible for you and I to be together.

I am eagerly waiting to hear you say “I want to know you too.”  Please reply soon

Your Loving Father, Pappa  God

postheadericon Standing on Fertile Ground

Fertile Ground

Let me be a flower in Your garden of worship,

Opening each petal with the touch of Your shining face,

Revealing more and more of Your beauty,

Drinking in the sweetness of Your refreshing dew;

The touch of Your merciful hand causes me to reach up and grow,

Grow with my roots planted deep into the rich soil of Your Word,

Filled with all of the nutrients of life;

Your consuming presence weighs heavy deep within me,

Allowing Your pure fragrance to burst forth;

I remain in Your splendor in this beautiful place,

Standing in awe of Your beautiful face,

For in this garden I have truly found,

I am standing with You On fertile ground.

Doing nothing, saying nothing and just being still for a moment is not always a bad thing. I remember when God first spoke these words to my heart at a time I was feeling the mully grubbies. It really took me off  guard.  He said, “Yes, I know you are standing still, but you’re  standing on fertile ground.”

Needless to say I had a whole new perspective on how God was working in my life. So my point is this, don’t be discouraged if you feel your standing still, doing nothing for God and the list of thoughts go on and on, just remember that the ground you are standing on is fertile and new life and growth comes from this time. Take advantage of the still times. Let God do what He does best in your life and enjoy the moment.
